CENTURY 21 Northwest held a contest for their viewers to submit their funniest Valentine’s Day story for the chance to win a free dinner for two at La Piazza Al Forno. Here is the winner!
Last week we asked for our viewers and clients to participate in a contest that would result in a free dinner for two at La Piazza Al Forno, a fantastic italian kitchen fully capable of providing a romantic evening. The goal was to submit your funniest Valentine’s Story – whether it was related to a bad date or the entire day itself. After sorting through stories, the one that we picked belonged to Rita M. from Phoenix, Arizona, due to the catastrophe that her Valentine’s night was. Here’s what Rita had to suffer through:
“On Valentine’s Day, I came home to find my 16-year-old rearranging her bedroom. Her friend was in the process of moving, and didn’t want her stereo set up to be ruined in the transition. So my daughter was making room so that she could babysit her friend’s equipment for a few weeks. Upon seeing this, I reminded her that we had a one-year-old in the house, and that I didn’t want to be responsible for any damage if the baby got ahold of the equipment.
Her room looked lovely with the new stereo system, and both my daughter and her friend were happy with the agreement they had made. Later that night, my daughters went to sleep after enjoying dinner and exchanging Valentine’s gifts. I decided to pour a glass of wine while the hubby showered.
As I was nearly ready to call it a day, my 16-year-old called out to me from her room, as she couldn’t sleep. There was an unknown noise and an uneasy feeling in the room. I turned her light on and that’s when I saw them. Crawling out of the stereo speakers and climbing up the wall was hundred of… ROACHES! Absolutely disgusting. We scrambled to get all the electronics into a box and momentarily dumped them at the far end of our backyard.
We spent the next two hours removing everything from her freshly rearranged room. We had to get the bedroom fumigated and we even put towels under the door in an attempt to contain the insecticide and unwanted critters. Needless to say, Valentine’s Day Night was more than memorable!”
Sounds horrible right? Most Valentine’s are filled with overpriced meals and chocolate, but this one was filled with bugs and cleaning. Definitely one of the most random and funniest stories we read this week. Luckily for Rita, this Valentine’s will be spent without cockroaches, because we’re proud to offer her and her husband an affectionate, Italian dinner – free of charge! We thank Rita M. for sharing her hilarious (and misfortunate) story with CENTURY 21 Northwest, and we hope that this Valentine’s will prove to be superior to the last.
