The Phoenix Metro Area is quietly becoming a hotbed of trendy restaurants with amazing chefs preparing high quality and delicious meals for their patrons. At the hub of this movement is Scottsdale Arizona. With its upper class neighborhoods, Scottsdale residents demand lavish settings and high quality. We’ve put together this Scottsdale AZ Restaurants Guide with our favorite places to eat in the area.
The Best Places to Eat in Scottsdale
Located at 15169 North Scottsdale Road, Dominick’s Steakhouse is one of the best Scottsdale, AZ restaurants. A high-end steakhouse serving hand-cut steaks and chops, Dominick’s makes the Scottsdale, AZ Restaurants Guide because of the special twist put on traditional favorites throughout the menu. If you are in the mood for something fun and delicious, try the Chef’s PB&J appetizer (made with paté, fig jam and Woodford Reserve bourbon), the Alaskan King Crab & Rock Shrimp Mac & Cheese and the Grilled Banana Split for dessert!
In addition to the first-rate menu, the restaurant is lauded for its impeccable service and stunning interior. As you enter through the handmade glass entry, you’ll be blown away by the impressive chandeliers, embossed leather walls and the mohair upholstered ceiling. Head to the pool area to enjoy an intimate meal next to the infinity pool and—if weather allows—enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather under the stars courtesy of the retractable roof.
Tommy V’s Urban Kitchen & Bar
If you love Italian food, Tommy V’s Urban Kitchen & Bar has got to be on your list of things to do in Scottsdale! Located in Old Town at 7303 East Indian School Road, this eatery is great for lunch or dinner. Do not let the white tablecloths fool you! Tommy V’s offer some of the best Italian food in Scottsdale for a really reasonable price. The friendly staff, extensive wine offering as well as the comfortable patio area (perfect for beautiful Arizona evenings) are the cherry on top of a delicious and interesting menu.
For an appetizer, we recommend the Pancetta Wrapped Prawns. Not only are they tasty, they’re also beautifully presented … Good food is even better when it looks pretty, right? With other items on the menu including Hazelnut Risotto, Zin Braised Short Ribs, Truffle Mac & Cheese and Limoncello Sorbet, it is hard to imagine anyone not finding something to like at this Scottsdale AZ restaurant.
One of our favorite Scottsdale AZ restaurants, located in Old Town, is Brat Haus. You can find this casual eatery at 3622 North Scottsdale Road, where they serve up a variety of “artisan” sausages, fries, burgers, pretzels, salads and more. If you want good food quickly, Brat Haus is one of the best places to eat in Scottsdale.
If you do happen to have some time on your hands, beer lovers will be glad to know that Brat Haus has 28 rotating taps of German, Belgian and craft brews. Stop in for Happy Hour (3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 3-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday) for $2 off a stein of beer as well as great deals on food and wines.
Communal seating and a lovely garden area make the ambiance of this restaurant warm and inviting. This is a fantastic option for large groups—grab a picnic table in a shady spot and let the fun begin! The patio is dog-friendly and has games like bag toss, ping pong, darts and life-sized Jenga.
Inside Old Town’s Bespoke Inn (a small, luxury bed & breakfast), award-winning Chef Gio Osso has created Virtù, a standout among Scottsdale, AZ restaurants. Located at 3701 North Marshall Way, the restaurant received heaps of praise from its inception in 2013. Esquire Magazine was quick to call it one of the top 20 “Best New Restaurants” in the entire United States.
Open for brunch and dinner, the restaurant’s Mediterranean-inspired menu changes frequently—almost every day. While that makes it tricky to suggest specific items, depending on the season, you can always count on the great seafood, prime meats, freshly crafted pastas and produce sourced from farms in the region. Happy hour is Tuesday through Saturday from 4-6 p.m. and foodies will rejoice in the opportunity to sample some seriously gourmet small plates for less than $10 per piece.
However, this restaurant is really small. The dining room and bar only seat around 25 people, so you will want to be sure to make a reservation in advance!
No restaurant guide, and especially a Scottsdale AZ restaurants guide, would be complete without a solid option for exceptional sushi. While there are numerous good sushi places to eat in Scottsdale (kind of impressive, considering it’s the middle of the Sonoran Desert), Sushi J stands out among the crowd. With its quality ingredients, delicious cocktails and unique specialty rolls, there’s a reason sushi aficionados flock here. If you are a fan of sake, Sushi J will not disappoint on that front, either! Be sure to add this to your list of things to do in Scottsdale!
Located at 4320 North Miller Road, chef and owner Jay Chung can often be found at the restaurant, ensuring guests have exceptional sushi experiences.
