With the holidays right around the corner, every family in Phoenix is wondering where the best places to see Santa are in the Valley. Nothing is more exciting to children than being able to meet Santa Claus in person to ask for a special present each year. Plus, who doesn’t love having a sweet collection of photos of your kids on Santa’s lap each year? They are a fun way to build magical memories with your children and also make for great family decorations and gifts for the grandparents. If you’re near the Valley and are trying to find Santa as well as other Christmas activities, here is a list of our top 5 best places to see Santa in Phoenix.
Westgate is a well known entertainment district located in Glendale AZ that hosts a great handful of events throughout December. Some of these events include “Meet Santa”(from 11/21 to 12/24), “Nightly Snowfall” (from 11/21 to 12/31), free horse-drawn carriage rides (11/24 to 12/23), and the “Skate Westgate” (11/21 to 1/7). If you own a home in Glendale AZ, these events will present you with plenty of opportunities to snap a picture with Santa, experience snow falling all around Fountain Park, and riding through the area in a horse-led carriage! Skate Westgate has become a holiday tradition for many families to enjoy skating around the ice rink during the night. These Glendale AZ Christmas events are bound to inspire you and your family to go out and spend more time together.
If you’re a resident of the Scottsdale area or feel like making a quick drive, it is well worth it to stop by the Scottsdale Princess for their fantastic seasonal events. Their Desert Ice Skating Rink, Build-a-Bear Workshop, and plaza shows are all beautifully decorated and spectacular for the whole family to experience. Your kids can take pictures with Kris Kringle himself at Santa’s Secret Headquarters, as well as with holiday character appearances throughout the plaza. And if you like appreciating amazing christmas lights and carols, then stopping by the Copper Canyon Christmas Village Light Show is a must. Most of these events take place between 11/22 and 12/31, so make sure to drop by if you get the chance!
The CitySkate Holiday Ice Rink is also one of the best places to see Santa in Phoenix and the Valley because they have a variety of meeting times and activities for people of all ages to participate in from 11/24 to 1/7. Check out the following dates to determine which day of Santa’s schedule will work best for you. Something wonderful about this event is that if you participate in “Skate It Forward”, you can help towards raising funds and awareness for different organizations each week. Along with a nightly hot cocoa stand, city light movie nights, and being located so close to the Phoenix Art Museum, parents and children alike can find different things they enjoy to bask in the holiday spirit together.

What could make going to the zoo an even more exciting place to visit? Festive lights, nightly snowfall, and meeting Santa Claus of course! From 11/22 to 1/14, the Phoenix Zoo exhibits a three-story lighted tree, hundreds of glimmering light displays, and lakeside Music-in-Motion shows. Especially decorated areas include the Stingray Bay, Dinosaurs in the Desert, and Carousel and Camel rides. Walking through the zoo at night with your family is an unforgettable experience that will leave you feeling cheery and ready for Christmas day.
Lastly, if you are a resident of the city of Tempe, then you may be interested to know that the Arizona Mills is not only one of the best places to see Santa in Phoenix Metro, but also host many other holiday events between 11/19 and 12/24. You can reserve an appointment with Santa online or find out where to find Santa on the days that you are visiting. On 12/3, there is also a special event where a Caring Santa comes to take photos and visit children with special needs. If you’re not able to make either of these dates, you can participate in story time with Mrs. Claus, cookies and milk included. If you don’t have kids, but have pets that you spoil just a bit too much, you can also bring your pet in for photos with Santa on 12/10. As you can see, there are plenty of quirky seasonal things to do at this mall and you can even squeeze in some holiday shopping in between.
