Buying a House in Phoenix Near a Freeway

When it comes to buying a house in Phoenix, one the biggest things that goes into consideration is how close it is to work, schools, and other places that you want to visit at convenience. Sometimes, this is difficult to come by because so many of those homes are already taken! An option that many people forget to contemplate is living in a house that’s by the freeway. Most people forget this because there are many pros and cons that come with living by the freeway. Here are seven reasons why you should make the move or not, and whether or not it will become a worthwhile investment.

Buying a House in Phoenix: The Pros to Living Near a Freeway

When it comes to buying a house in Phoenix or any other area, a freeway home can be a risky move. Real Estate investing should always be taken seriously and can affect you in your future process of buying another home or selling your old one. These are the advantages of living near the freeway:

Noise doesn’t have to be a problem if you have double sealed windows and you don’t spend a lot of time outside (unless leaving by car of course). Some people actually enjoy the white noise as opposed to silence.

  1. The freeway is a very public place and therefore not much crime is committed near it. Your home should be safe!
  2. You may get a cheaper price because of the noise and location conditions.
  3. Your commuting will become undoubtedly shorter.
  4. Many homes located above the freeway are actually quite desirable and less inconvenient than those found right next to the freeway.
  5. Living by the highway is a great way to feel connected to the city as you’re nearly at the heart of all the excitement.
  6. Many of these homes are also renovated to boost their home value despite their location, so your house may be more updated for a cheaper price than you would normally expect.

Cons to Living Near a Freeway

Along with advantages will always come disadvantages, especially when it comes to buying a house in Phoenix. Every neighborhood has it’s issues and freeway homes are no exception to that. Here is why buying a freeway house will have consequences ultimately:

  1. Air Quality may become worse: filled with pollution and dust from passing traffic. People with bad lungs, asthma, or severe allergies should avoid living here!
  2. It’s dangerous for children to play outside near the traffic.
  3. More than often, homeless people will hang out by freeway entrances to collect money, so if that makes you uneasy this location may not be for you.
  4. When you go to sell this home, it’s location may backfire on you.
  5. If you’re a fan of opening your windows to keep cool in the summer, the location is bound to bother you.
  6. You may get more soot covering your outdoor appliances.
  7. It’s rare that someone would consider a freeway home their “forever home”, meaning you may just want to wait and save up some more if you’re looking for a more permanent home.

Should I Make the Move or Not?

No matter what your decision may be, it’s important to really size up a house before you decide to put in an offer on it. It’s smart to check out how the neighborhood you’re interested in is like during daytime and nighttime, as well as asking any fellow neighbors what they’re opinion on the area is. Having a trusted AZ realtor who knows the area well can also be beneficial as they may have past clients who have been faced with the same decision as you and can share their experience. CENTURY 21 Northwest realtors can help you in buying a house in Phoenix that best suits your location and financial needs.
