Gilbert is an up-and-coming town that is especially popular with young families. So it would stand to reason that there is a healthy dose of holiday spirit to go around that neck of the woods. Read on for a list of some of our favorite Gilbert AZ neighborhoods that really know how to deck the halls.
Did you get too busy to put lights on your own house and now your kids are giving you grief and calling you a Scrooge? Maybe you are just really into the holidays and feel like celebrating somewhere less commercial than at a shopping mall. Either way, these Gilbert AZ neighborhoods are packed with holiday festivities that are just the ticket. After a visit to any one of them, you will be feeling merry and bright faster than you can say fa la la la la! (See what we did there?)
A master-planned community built on nine hundred acres in Gilbert, AZ, Val Vista Lakes is known for its notable facilities. In addition to a clubhouse, bicycle paths and workout facilities that you would expect in most newer communities, Val Vista Lakes also features an impressive eight-court tennis complex, indoor racquetball courts and a lagoon-style community pool, complete with a sandy beach.
You know that any community that goes all out on amenities like this isn’t likely to celebrate the holidays like a lightweight. The festivities at this Gilbert neighborhood are numerous. In addition to the expected lights adorning the property, Val Vista Lakes also hosts a breakfast with Santa Claus, hands out free hot cocoa and cookies at “Holiday Mountain” (the centerpiece of their beautiful light display) every Friday and Saturday night in December. While many of their holiday events have already passed, if you are in the Gilbert area or considering a move there in the near future, it is not too late to go enjoy some of those cookies and cocoa (and mark your calendars to make sure you are in on all of the fun next year).
Located in Gilbert near Elliot and Higley Roads, the residents of Comstock Drive inside the Morrison Ranch subdivision annually hosts an award-winning light show that gains national recognition on a near-annual basis and benefits the Make a Wish Foundation. Comprised on 13 houses, the display is computer animated and includes over 110,000 lights, more than 300 strobe lights and more than 50,000 feet of wire.
While Morrison Ranch is one of the most beautiful communities in all of Gilbert all year round, during this time of the year, Christmas on Comstock somehow helps it become even more appealing. With tree-lined streets and large beautiful houses, the added holiday spirit makes the neighborhood all the more inviting … it will make you feel like it is the holidays, even if it is still 70 degrees outside!
See the show in all of its glory by pulling up between 6 and 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays or 6 to 10:30 p.m. on a Friday or Saturday night. Tune your car radio to 93.9 FM to hear the music that the lighted animations are set to. Can’t quite make it? The static version of the display is still on from 9 until 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays.
If you are having a hard time deciding on just one Gilbert neighborhood to visit this holiday season and don’t have time to hit them all up, consider a guided tour. The Holiday Character Lights Tour produced by Enchanted Entertainment offers the chance to be guided by some of your favorite characters through some of the most festive neighborhoods in Gilbert. After 75 minutes of driving around and singing your heart out, taking in the views of all of the decorations from your seat on a double-decker London bus, you and your kids can have your pictures taken with characters like Elsa, Spiderman, Moana, and of course, St. Nicholas himself! The tour starts at the intersection of Cooper and Baseline Roads and will give you a good feel for the variety of neighborhoods in Gilbert.
When it comes to the holidays, very few communities do it as well as the neighborhoods in Gilbert. And with new subdivisions popping up all of the time, this list should definitely not be considered exhaustive. Did we miss one of your favorite holiday attractions?
